This time in our structure help we talk about the difference between; as, when, and while. These three words are used to talk about actions that happen at the same time. First we need to think about two simple ideas; a long action and a short action. Different connecting words are necessary depending on which actions happen at the same time. This time in our structure help we talk about the difference between two prepositions, ‘like’ and ‘as’. Don’t confuse the verb ‘like’ with the preposition ‘like’. The verb ‘like’ is a regular verb, is very common and has a different meaning than the preposition ‘like’. The verb ‘like’ follows our normal sentence word order for verbs (subject + verb + object + place + time). Look at the diagram below to see the difference between these two prepositions, then try to write some examples for yourself.
