Landing gear door problem

Here’s the text to the listening from yesterday.

Enjoy!!

An Airbus took off as normal en route from Melbourne to Jakarta.  As it started to climb out of Melbourne’s runway 34 the pilots noted that the right hand main gear door didn’t close after the gear was retracted. The crew stopped the climb at 6000 feet and returned to Melbourne for a safe landing on runway 34 about 20 minutes after they had departed.

Burning smell

Here’s the text to the listening from yesterday.

Enjoy!!

A flight from Madrid to New York was cruising at FL400 over Canada when the crew noticed a burning smell in the rear of the cabin. The Cabin crew ran to locate the source of the smell. They decided to move the passengers out of their seats and search around the seats. After five minutes of searching, they found a short circuit in the inflight entertainment system of one of the seats. They were able to remove these cables and the smell disappeared.
The pilots thought about diverting, but when the crew found the source of the smell, they continued to New York and landed safely.

Bird strike

Here’s the text to the listening from yesterday.

Enjoy!!

An A320 was preparing to depart Los Angeles’ runway 24L en route to San Francisco. While the plane was taking off it suffered a bird strike in engine no.2. The aircraft stopped its climb at 2500 feet and returned to Los Angeles for a safe landing on runway 24L about 10 minutes after its departure.

The the right hand engine was badly damaged and required maintenance after landing.

A replacement plane was ready to depart two hours after the flight originally took off.
