Audio answer: ‘Toilet water’

Here’s the text to the listening from yesterday.

Enjoy!!

A transatlantic flight was at cruise level and preparing to enter oceanic airspace when the captain was notified of water leaking from a lavatory into the passenger cabin. The captain wasn’t sure if this was a danger to the safety of the flight, so to be sure, he decided to burn off fuel and divert to his nearest alternative airport. After landing, a technician solved the problem and cleaned the area which was affected. The flight was ready for takeoff again, three hours after landing.

Structure: ‘Like vs As’

Fly High English - Structure

This time in our structure help we talk about the difference between two prepositions, ‘like’ and ‘as’. Don’t confuse the verb ‘like’ with the preposition ‘like’. The verb ‘like’ is a regular verb, is very common and has a different meaning than the preposition ‘like’. The verb ‘like’ follows our normal sentence word order for verbs (subject + verb + object + place + time). Look at the diagram below to see the difference between these two prepositions, then try to write some examples for yourself.
